Samvinnulistinn intends to increase the visibility of welfare issues, issues of the elderly and disabled residents and introduce to them the resources that co-operation between communities offers.
Samvinnulistinn offers Harald Þór Jónsson as the next administrator of Skeiða- and Gnúpverjahreppur.
POLICY LIST
COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATION
One of our first tasks will be to set up a working group that will work on examining what merging with other communities means for Skeiða- and Gnúpverjahreppur. We will initiate discussions with our neighboring communities to explore the pros and cons of merging in larger or smaller context.
If negotiations lead to the will of the communities for continued work on the merger process, residents will be informed of the progress. Residents will then have the final say in the election during the election period.
EMPLOYMENT, TRANSPORT AND RESIDENCE
A prerequisite for job creation is the supply of residential housing. We need to go into planning work that creates condition for people and companies to settle in the countryside. For a long time, there has been no supply of residential housing in the community. The very few apartments that have been built have been sold fast. We intend to formulate a clear strategy for development for the future with a diverse selection of building sites, both on behalf of the community and other landowners.
We want to ensure a sufficient supply of residential and commercial building sites in the community and make them available to those who are interested in moving their residence to us.
We will apply increased pressure on Vegagerðin to improve the state of affairs in road matters in the community.
SCHOOL AFFAIRS
One of the most important roles of communities is to maintain good school work. School services must take into account the needs of all children in the community. We want all children to be able to pursue leisure and sports activities as a direct continuation of school activities. When organizing school work, it must be taken into account that both parents work full-time and this must not affect children's opportunities for leisure and sports activities.
Our kindergarten needs to enable parents to work full time. Since we live in rural areas, many parents have to travel long distances to work. Therefore the kindergarten must offer an opening from 7:30 - 16:30. We aim for the kindergarten to provide this service.
ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS
We have a very special position in terms of the community’s contribution to green renewable energy that all Icelanders enjoy every day. We need to develop actions that prioritize environmental protection.
We intend to continue the journey of implementing the United Nations Global Goals to be at the forefront of environmental issues. One way to do this is to establish co-operation projects between the communities on a similar footing as health-promoting communities to strengthen and educate about environmental issues.
We intend to further strengthen the Green Flag project for primary schools and kindergarten in order to strengthen the grassroots and help children to adopt the ideology of environmental issues as times go on.
Environmental issues are on the agenda in all our daily routines. Whether we are efficient and resourceful in our operations, how we choose our means of transport, how we can carbon offset our activities, whether we encourage and promote organic or environmentally friendly farming methods, how we encourage or promote the revegetation of land that needs it.
We want to increase the number of committee members in the environment committee to discuss the projects that are available in the community and will come to the attention of the local authority in the future.
We want to work on finding realistic solutions for sorting and disposing of waste. Build on the good foundation that has been laid, increase and improve even further. We will look into the workshops of the communities that are at the forefront of this issue.
HVAMMSVIRKJUN
It is very likely that a request for a construction permit for the construction of Hvammsvirkjun will be one of the first projects of the new local authority. If this happens, it is important that we secure the interests of the community in this large project. In this way, we can lay the foundations for future development in employment and population.
DISCLOSURE TO RESIDENTS
It is very important for the residents of the community to be able to access the necessary information about welfare and social issues when it suits them best. At the same time to be informed about the various activities of the community. This can avoid misunderstanding, but also increase reflection for the benefit of the residents to the local authority. We intend to improve the provision of information to the population. The community's website will be updated to make it easier for residents to access all information clearly. Gaukurinn will be revived in printed form and released monthly to all residents. It will be possible to subscribe to Gaukur and have it sent to any home.
COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATOR
Haraldur is the head of the Samvinnulistinn and will work as administrator if he receives a mandate from the voters to do so. We propose that the chairman of the community conceal also becomes the acting administrator. This means that we save the salary of the precious community conceal in addition to the statutory fee for sitting on a local council.
OPERATION OF THE COMMUNITY
Our community enjoys the privilege of a large energy company paying a large part of the real estate taxes levied on commercial real estate. As a result, we have significantly more money to play with than many other communities of a similar size. We have a duty to use the funds in the best possible way for the benefit of the people.
The community's debt has increased steadily in recent years. In 2014, the debt ratio was 23%, while in 2020 it was 52.2%. It is necessary to manage the operation and stop further debt accumulation. With disciplined operations, it is possible to achieve good financial benefits in many areas. The regular operation of the community should not have to increase the debt accumulation of the community.
GOVERNANCE
Strong management of a community is based, among other things, on good administration. It is important that the community's committees are given tasks to discuss and give the local authority its professional opinion. We therefore consider it important that professionals or people with expertise who are interested in the issue are elected to the committees. In this way, we utilize the human resources and knowledge of the residents and give them the opportunity to influence the decisions of the local authority.
